Photo of Hutchinson & Northern 2
Hutchinson & Northern 2

This rare steeplecab electric locomotive is one of only a handful built by General Electric with inside-bearing trucks. This particular locomotive was used on GE's private railroad, the East Erie Commercial, between its construction in 1919 and 1926, when it was sold to the Hutchinson & Northern in Kansas. The H&N used it until 1963, after which it sat in a scrapyard for years until rescued for historic preservation. It is displayed in front of the Kansas Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson.
