South Side Rapid Transit 1The oldest preserved "L" car from Chicago is car number 1, now preserved and displayed at the Chicago History Museum. This car was built in 1892 by Jackson & Sharp and was originally pulled by Forney steam engines; it was later electrified with pioneering Sprague MU control and ran until 1947.
