South Side Rapid Transit 1

The oldest preserved "L" car from Chicago is car number 1, now preserved and displayed at the Chicago History Museum. This car was built in 1892 by Jackson & Sharp and was originally pulled by Forney steam engines; it was later electrified with pioneering Sprague MU control and ran until 1947.
